Kitchen : Basic Circulation | 2 |

Lets get to the point again.

I believe you had a peak at the "Kitchen : Basic CIrculation | 1 |". If you haven't... well... umm.... hmm....... just do it "✔"

As promised let's talk about the connection between Kitchen & Dining Room.

There is a crucial points when thinking about these two connection.

The Cooks & The Diners

The Cooks : usually stays in the kitchen and has full ownership of the equipments. (Fridge, Cooktop, Sinks, Pantry / Cabinets & Benchtop)

The Diners : usually has a limited access to the kitchen. (Fridge, Cutlery Drawer and etc...)

By understanding these two differences, we can now start to picture where all the equipments and appliances will be located for it's fluent movements.

Let's look at example

"Diners!!! Leave the Cooks.... ALONE"

I'm not saying to stop communicating... but what's worst for Cooks are to not have enough space to move and function. I personally love cooking and I hate when people hangs around my territory while i'm trying not to cut or burn myself. Kitchen is a dangerous place when we start to become careless.

I have seen many poor kitchen design where I have to keep saying "sorry... i'm sorry~.. oops my bad" to get what I wanted and leave the area. Keep it logical.

The rule of thumb is

  • Fridge should have a indestructive access.
  • Sink should have a good connection between dining and kitchen for easy crockery dropoff
  • I do not recommend a cooktop in the island bench... unless you want all the oil splash

I'm sure there is more and will keep adding as I get more experiences.

That's it for now. I'm sure there is more to talk about the circulation and will keep posting up.

Stay Tune
